Over the course of the last few days, the Clippers and Celtics have engaged in a lot of trade talks to try and work out a deal to send head coach Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett to Los Angeles in exchange for a collection of players and draft picks. But now it appears as though that deal is officially dead in the water. After trying to find something that would satisfy both teams, they ultimately decided to call things off earlier today when it was clear that a trade was not imminent.

"It just got to be too much," a source told CBS Sports. "And so nothing's going to happen."

Well, that's not entirely true. Something is going to happen. It just won't involve a deal between the Clips and Celts. Instead, it'll involve L.A. bringing in Byron Scott and Brian Shaw for interviews for the Clippers head coaching vacancy. Boston will also have to figure out what to do with Rivers, now that they've basically told him that he's expendable by attempting to trade him away. With NBA free agency just two weeks away, look for both of those situations to be resolved soon.
