Chad Johnson doesn't want to spend the next 30 days of his life in jail. So he just had his lawyer—the same one he patted on the backside on Monday morning to earn a 30-day jail sentence—file a motion to have his sentence reduced. In the motion, Johnson's lawyer said that the former NFL star did not mean any disrespect when he gave his lawyer a love tap. He was simply showing his appreciation to him.

"Mr. Johnson has been a professional football player in the National Football League for 11 years," lawyer Adam Swickle said in the motion, "and patting another individual on the backside is viewed as a sign of respect and gratitude. It is clear that the court misinterpreted Mr. Johnson's interaction with his attorney."

He also said that the laughter that was heard in the courtroom was "not Mr. Johnson's fault and he should not be punished for the actions of third parties."

Kathleen McHugh, the judge who handed Johnson the 30-day jail sentence, will decide CJ's fate during a hearing next Monday. It'll be interesting to see what she decides to do, especially in light of all the criticism that she has received in the last 24 hours.
