Remember the VW Buggy Up! concept? It was the extremely cool beach buggy based on the dirt cheap Up!. Given VW's upswing in quality as of late, the open air, beach-ready styling of the concept, and the inexpensive nature of the Up!, this car reminds us of VW's most iconic era in the US: the '60s.
In the '60s VW was making cheap cars with a distinct sense of style that were easy to convert into fantastic beach-mobiles. Right now, VW is considering production for the Buggy Up!, and if the market studies go well it will be on the market shortly. We really hope it's being considered for US sale, because Stinson Beach in Marin County, CA needs a car like this.
