7.3 Million People Ran Red Lights Due to Distraction in 2012

Why did that person just run a red light? There's a good chance that it's because he had a strong urge to see if he had gotten any likes on Instagram for his last post. He may have checked just three minutes ago (at the last red light) but that's not stopping him now. 

Yeah, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has estimated that about 12% of red light violations are due to distracted driving, which is about 7.3 million per year. It's amazing that we don't die more often.
