When 50 Cent threw down $53,000 in cash back in 1994 to pick up his very first car—a brand-new charcoal gray Toyota Land Cruiser—he thought he was the man. He put some new wheels on it, added a sound system to it, and even threw a bike rack on top of it. He was stunting.

But according to a story that's set to appear in the next issue of Forbes, his time with the Land Cruiser was short-lived. A few months after he bought it, he pulled up to a red light in his neighborhood and was greeted by the mean mug of a guy that pulled up next to him. The guy asked him where "Black"—a local gangster—was and 50 shrugged. But within a few minutes, he put two and two together and realized that he was driving the same exact car that Black owned. And he knew that if he kept it, his ride would turn into a target in the neighborhood. So he took it back to the dealership the next day and picked up a white Mercedes-Benz 400 SEL.

But 50's car troubles didn't stop there. We don't want to ruin the story, though, so if you want to find out what happened to the Benz—and find out how 50 ended up in a 1992 Dodge Caravan just a few years later—go read the Forbes piece over here now. It's a good look at the rise of 50 Cent as told through his always-growing car collection.
