Here's the good news for Steve Clifford. After five years (2007-2012) as assistant coach of the Orlando Magic, as well as spending last season as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers, Clifford will finally get a crack at being a head coach in the NBA. OK, the bad news is that he will be calling the shots for the dismal Charlotte Bobcats.
Throughout his years in the league working under Mike D'Antoni and both Van Gundy brothers, Clifford has gained a great deal of experience which will be beneficial for a young, inexperienced team like the Bobcats. Will he turn out to be the coaching solution that Charlotte needs? Who knows? All we hope is that Clifford gets more of an opportunity to succeed than former coach Mike Dunlap, who was fired after going 21-61 in his only season roaming the sidelines for the 'Cats.
