Remember when Michael Jordan did an interview with ESPN The Magazine back in February and revealed that he knew how to shut LeBron James down? While talking with ESPN's Wright Thompson, he offered up a scouting report for how to guard LeBron.
"I study him," MJ said, before revealing that he felt LeBron usually drives when he goes right but settles for jumpers when he goes left. "So if I have to guard him, I'm gonna push him left so nine times out of 10, he's gonna shoot a jump shot. If he goes right, he's going to the hole and I can't stop him. So I ain't letting him go right."
On Wednesday night, Paul George found out what happens when you let LeBron go left. He beat George and scored an easy, uncontested, left-handed layup to help the Heat win in OT. So LeBron was asked about MJ's scouting report yesterday and responded to it briefly in light of what he did in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
"That theory is wrong, I guess," he said.
It sure looked like it. Bottom line: LeBron is hard to stop, regardless of whether he goes left or right. That's really the only scouting report you need to know. Good luck stopping him in Game 2, Pacers!
