Phoenix is looking for a come up.

The post-Steve Nash era has not been kind at all to the Phoenix Suns. The team's 25-57 record was the fourth-worst in the NBA last season as well as the second-worst in the franchise's 45-year history. The Suns are trying alleviate the loss of one All-Star with the addition of a former one: Jeff Hornacek. Phoenix is offering to make him its new head coach.

Hornacek made his only All-Star appearance when he played with the Suns in 1991-92. He was also part of the famed Utah Jazz squad (think Malone/Stockton) that lost to Michael Jordan's Bulls twice in the Finals.

If a deal is made, he'll will succeed interim coach Lindsey Hunter, who went 12-29 after taking over for the fired Alvin Gentry.

UPDATE: Reports are saying Hornacek has been hired as the Suns' head coach. The Arizona Central's Paul Coro says he's expected to sign the three-year deal on Monday.
