Bentley's participated in the race since its beginning in 1923. That year, it was the only British manufacture entered in the race—it placed fourth. The next year, Bentley won…doing so again every year from 1927 to 1930. These dominant years set the stage for the Bentley marquee and established the legacy of the "Bentley Boy," the adventurous racers that embody founder W.O. Bentley's ideals. After an 83-year draught, Bentley returned to the top spot in 2003, when Guy Smith piloted a Speed 8 over the finish line.

90 years after the first Le Mans (and also marking the 10th anniversary of Bentley's 2003 victory) Bentley's pulled out all the stops to remind everyone of its sporting legacy with the announcement of the Le Mans Limited Edition Mulsanne and Continental. Each car gets six distinct trims inspired by the greatest ever "Bentley Boys"—John Duff, Dudley Benjafield, Woolf Barnato, Tim Birkin, Glen Kidston, and Guy Smith—fusing performance and luxury with the following details:
- Unique Le Mans Edition numbered badge.
- Le Mans clock face.
- Embroidered Le Mans badge to each headrest.
- Le Mans Edition wheels.
- Specific interior veneers and exterior colors.
Each car runs in a set of 48, and will be available to buyers looking for the highest end thrills, for what's presumably a long, long time.
