The Biggest First-Round Upsets in NBA History

2. (8) Denver Nuggets vs. (1) Seattle Supersonics

Season: 1994
Series: Nuggets in five.

Mt. Mutombo proved to be too tall a task for the Seattle Sonics. Dikembe blocked 31 shots, good for 6.2 per game. Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp didn't stand a chance. He added 12 points and 12 boards to those blocks while helping Denver become the first eighth seed to beat a first seed in a five game series. The Sonics essentially wasted a 63-win season and made a lot of bookies angry in the process. They really had no business losing this series, but Mutombo kept Kemp's high-wire act at bay. All that was left from the series was the image of Dikembe raising the ball to the heavens in joy.
