Patriots fans, we may have some bad news for you. Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston is reporting that Rob Gronkowski will "very likely" undergo a fourth surgery on his still recovering left forearm to remove an infection. Recently, Gronkowski was in California when he woke up and noticed that his injured forearm had swelled up and he even noticed a discharge. After informing the Patriots of his discovery, the 23-year-old tight end was immediately flown back to Boston and that is when team doctors attempted to take care of the matter.
If Gronkowski does require surgery, he is likely to miss about 10 weeks. Depending on when the procedure is done and if they can completely clear out the infection, Gronk could be unavailable for the beginning of the 2013-14 regular season. With so many weapons, including fellow tight end Aaron Hernandez, the Patriots should be able to make due without Gronkowski. Guess we can't help but wonder if this latest setback could mean a possible signing of Terrell Owens.
