Meet the New Fastest Production Car in the World (Technically)

Eat it, Bugatti!

We can hear the rumble of Bugatti stans collapsing on us as we type this. At 265.7 mph, the Hennessey Venom GT is the fastest car that the open public can buy. Okay, so, the Venom GT, will hold this title purely on a technicality, but a title is a title. Madness, you say? The Bugatti Super Sport is faster, you say? Allow Mr. John Hennessey to explain:

While a Veyron Super Sport did run 267.8 mph, Bugatti speed-limits its production vehicles to 258 mph. Thus, at 265.7 mph the Venom GT is the fastest production car available to the public.

The Bugatti is actually limited, because at such a ridiculously high speed, the tires are at risk of exploding. Regardless, both cars are incredible achievements of automotive technology. Let's hope we don't see any of these crashing any time soon.
