Unsurprisingly, it's going to be quick.

We knew some things about the Maserati Ghibli other than the fact that it's beautiful already, but we hadn't seen much in the way of numbers yet. Now we know that the Ghibli will initially be offered with a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 tuned to two different amounts of power or a 3.0L V6 turbodiesel all of which were designed by former Scuderia Ferrari Chief Motorist Paolo Martinelli.

The base gas engine will make 330 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque, which will get the Ghibli going 60 mph in 5.6 seconds, while the uprated one should produce 410 hp and 405 lb-ft and will drop the 0-60 time to 5.0 seconds.

The diesel will offer 275 horse and 442 lb-ft of torque, which will be enough to get a respectable 0-60 time of 6.3 seconds while returning 47 mpg on the Euro cycle. We'd estimate this will be about 39 mpg when rated by the more accurate EPA.

Later on, a top level V8 model will be added to the line up, but Maserati isn't saying anything about that yet.
