The Focus basically made people completely forget about the Escort. That's exactly what Ford wanted to happen, because the previous Escort was pretty freakin' ugly. Now, with the huge growth in Chinese auto sales (and 25 percent of all vehicle sales going to compacts), Ford has brought the Escort back with a much nicer presence. The car debuted at the Shanghai Motor Show and is purely a concept for now.
