Dwight Howard didn't win the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award this year. In fact, he didn't even come close to winning it. Just two years removed from winning the award in 2011 for a third consecutive time, he only finished with one first-place vote and four third-place votes in the DPOY voting to finish in 14th place, way behind the eventual winner Marc Gasol. And, earlier today, he didn't sound too happy about it.

"It's just funny," he said, without smiling. "That's okay. We got next year and I got a long time. This year's funny."

Funny? After the season the Lakers just had, that's not the word we would use. But okay. Howard doesn't actually think he should have won the DPOY award, though. If he had a vote, he would have given it to Serge Ibaka.

"With all the stuff he did this year, he should've been the guy to win it," he said. "With the stuff he's done on the defensive end, I thought he was the clear-cut winner. But people saw otherwise."

Hmmm…Dwight, you do realize that you're indirectly bad-mouthing your teammate's brother, right? Okay, just making sure.
