In his day, Bullet Bob Hayes was considered the fastest man ever to play in the NFL. And he still may be; at one time, he held records for the 60-yard, 100-yard, 220-yard, and Olympic 100-meter dashes and was the only man to win both an Olympic gold medal and a Super Bowl. He was a dynamic offensive threat on the football field as well, making three Pro Bowls and forcing a revolution in the way teams defend the pass. Hayes was so fast that teams could no longer simply go one-on-one with him; thus, the concept of bump-and-run and zone coverage was born.
