A Gigantic Sinkhole Swallowed Three Cars in Chicago Early This Morning

Scary scene.

None

Dude, where's my car?! That's what three Chicago drivers probably would have thought early this morning when they approached the spots where they had parked their cars last night and realized that they weren't there anymore. But, as it turns out, the cars weren't actually moved from the spots. It's just that the spots themselves disappeared.

A huge sinkhole swallowed three cars in the South Deering neighborhood of Chicago in the wee hours of Thursday morning. The Chicago Fire Department responded to a call about the sinkhole at approximately 5:30 a.m. to find two of the cars in the hole. But, as they arrived, a third car also slid down into the sinkhole. One person was found inside the sinkhole and had to be rushed to a local hospital. He or she has been listed in serious-to-critical condition.

Not for nothing, but what's with all the sinkholes popping up around the country these days? Really scary stuff.
