A College Football Player Made Some Incredibly Insensitive Remarks About Gay Athletes Recently

An apology should be coming any second now.

With all the news that's swirling around about the possibility of a gay NFL player coming out soon, you would think that amateur and pro athletes would be sensitive to the subject. But you would think wrong. For a piece that ran in The Daily Reveille earlier today, LSU college football players were asked about the possibility of playing with a gay teammate. And running back Alfred Blue made some incredibly stupid—and incredibly insensitive—remarks when asked what he would think about having a gay teammate.

"Football is supposed to be this violent sport," he said, "this aggressive sport that grown men are supposed to play. Ain't no little boys out here between them lines. So if you gay, we look at you as a sissy. You know? Like, how you going to say you can do what we do and you want a man?"

Sigh. We're sure an apology from Blue is coming any minute now. But c'mon, dude. Like, for real?
