Far be it from us to dole Clint Dempsey career advice. The Spurs forward is the highest-paid American soccer player of all time. He was Major League Soccer Rookie of the Year in 2004, has scored buckets of goals in the English Premier League, and is the most dangerous attacker on the U.S. national team. Impressive? Sure, but you probably already knew all of that. What you may not know is that Dempsey also has a burgeoning rap career. He recorded his first single in 2006 for a Nike Promo, “Don’t Tread,” with Houston underground rappers Big Hawk and XO. Lately he's been too focused on his game to leave much time to create new music. But now that Tottenham’s 2013 season is coming to a close, we can look forward to the possibility that Dempsey’s musical alter ego, Deuce, will rise again.
They say that rappers want to be athletes, and athletes want to be rappers. Dempsey is one of the few who shatter the boundaries between the two dream careers without totally embarrassing himself.
