After he retired as a player, Jackie hoped to coach in the majors, unfortunately no black managers would be hired for 15 more years. Instead, the coffee company Chock full o'Nuts hired Robinson as their vice president and director of personnel even before his baseball career had officially ended. In 1964 he resigned from the company to work for Governor Nelson Rockefeller, who had ironically sued Chock full o'Nuts in the past for their advertising jingle.
