Team/Player: University of Oklahoma Football
Date: 1953-1957

There are few college football programs more tradition-rich than Oklahoma. The Sooners rattled off an unthinkable winning streak in the mid-1950s—one that has yet to be seriously challenged. The only reason they lost it was that they may have been slightly poisoned by Notre Dame before game No. 48. In any case, several of their wins came against programs that were either slow or outright refused to integrate African-Americans into their teams, which allowed the Sooners to routinely blow out these vastly inferior opponents. Had the playing field been leveled a bit more, some of OU's narrow victories would likely have become losses.
