51 examples of the Tucker 48 were assembled, and of those were the original “Tin Goose” prototype and 50 pilot-production cars. Unfortunately, The Tucker Corporation came under the scrutiny of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and was forced to close in the early 1950s, exiting the market after producing just 51 cars.
This 48 will go up for auction on Saturday at RM's Amelia Island auction. The company estimates that it will will sell for somewhere between $1,500,000 and 1,900,000. We love it.
