While it almost certainly will happen someday, a 16-seed has never beaten a one-seed. This game was about as close as it has come to happening, as the Hoyas led by Alonzo Mourning struggled to put Princeton away throughout this tight contest. The Tigers took a shocking eight point lead into halftime, but Georgetown rallied back in the second to take a one point lead with 15 seconds left and Princeton with the ball. It looked like they were about to get a clean look from the top of the key, but Mourning came in with a late block to keep the Hoyas in front. An obvious foul on Princeton's last shot of the game went uncalled, leaving the crowd irate and allowing Georgetown to finally exhale.
