With the Syracuse Orange men's basketball team a little more than 24 hours away from their first match-up of the 2013 Tournament against Montana, the NCAA has sent a letter of preliminary inquiry to the university regarding a variety of issues, which include the school's handling of Fab Melo's academic eligibility, possible drug-related violations and an alleged 2007 sexual assault case involving three players. And, according to CBSSports.com, "the transgressions are 'major.'"
While it is being reported that NCAA investigators have only conducted face-to-face interviews with current and former SU employees over the past school year, the Post-Standard is also claiming that the basketball program has been investigated for years now.
