Last summer, Rob Gronkowski was asked what he would think about having a gay teammate. And, the New England Patriots tight end said that he would be fine with it.
"If that's how they are," he told Outsports.com, "that's how they are. I mean, we're teammates, so long as he's being a good teammate and being respectful and everything, that's cool."
But, with the news coming out this week that there might be a gay NFL player out there thinking about coming out soon, Gronk was asked the same question again this week during an interview on Stephen A. Smith's radio show. And, he more or less provided the same answer.
"I got this question before," he said, "about a year ago, and I basically will say the same answer that I did a year ago. You've got to accept the player. Everyone has their own ways to live their life and as long as he's respecting me, keeping distance, respecting myself, I'll respect him back. If he's being a great teammate and he's a guy on the field doing a great job, well then you've got nothing to complain about. He's another teammate and another friend."
Good answer, Gronk.
