In a particularly shocking case of sexual assault, teenagers Trent Mays (17) and Ma'lik Richmond (16) of Steubenville, Ohio Swere both found guilty of raping an intoxicated 16-year-old girl. The duo was accused of penetrating her twice after a party on Aug. 11. Both were sentenced to at least one year in juvenile jail, while Richmond was sentence to at least another year after released images of the victim through social media.

What makes the trial so much more controversial is the fact that other people were possibly concealing their knowledge about the incident. Three other boys, two of whom were from Steubenville's celebrated high school football team, were accused of recording the incident instead of taking action. This is illegal, but none of them were charged, which led many to believe work was being done to cover-up the football team, according to Associated Press.

Sixteen people refused to talk to investigators as well. Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is planning to bring together a grand jury to see if any other charges ought to be given out.
