Maseriti's Mainstream Ghibli Leaks

Set to battle the BMW 5-series, this seriously sexy Italian four-door is expected in 2014.

Maserati, like several other iconic Italian motor companies, is looking to expand. Entry-level (i.e. more expensive than we can afford, but cheaper than a Ferrari) cars are first on the docket—specifically the four-door Ghibli sedan. It's smaller than the famed Quattroporte, built on a Chrysler 300 architecture, and promises a version of Chrysler's 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 good for about 400 horsepower. If we're lucky, the highest end version may offer a Ferrari-built 3.8-liter twin turbo.

Leaked images of the Ghibli show a car that captures Maserati sensability at a smaller scale. Still, is it enough to entice buyers? Does Italian luxury have sway in "mainstream" market? Let us know.
