Having a shoot-first, star player like Kobe Bryant is a gift and a curse. When they're on, those types of players can single-handedly lead their team to victory. However, when their shot isn't falling, they can become overly aggressive, continuously try to break out of their slump and forget all about their teammates. But, Kobe has a solution.
According to Lakers teammate Antwan Jamison, Bryant wants his teammates to yell at him when he isn't passing enough. Here's what Jamison said yesterday in an interview on ESPN's Max and Marcellus Show:
“Kobe will tell you,” Jamison said. “He’s like, ‘Look, you guys as my teammates, yell at me. Let me know that you’re open because I’m so programmed,’ and this guy has told me this, ‘I see nothing but that basket. You could be open, there could be three guys on me, but the only thing I see is that basket so you have to tell me, Look, I was open. Or yell at me mid-play. That doesn’t affect me at all and I respect that.’”
Later, Jamison added that people were probably afraid to approach Kobe in the past, but that isn't the case these days. Yeah, OK. Even though we're referring to him as Vino now, let's not forget that he was the Black Mamba before that and just like a snake, he can bite back viciously at any moment. Tread those waters lightly, guys. That's all we gotta say.
