Kia GT and Provo Likely To Hit Production

Kia is adding to its ranks of fun cars in a significant way.

We went over why the Kia Provo's name is very much not a good idea already, but we've also mentioned that we think that the design and car itself looks brilliant. Luckily, it is probably going into production with a different name. It was shown as a sports-hybrid, but we have no idea what kind of powertrain the Provo would actually hit the market with. We'd expect something similar to the Hyundai Veloster Turbo, but hope for AWD.

At the same time, Kia has said that the GT concept from the 2011 Frankfurt motor show, a V8-powered 2+2 sport sedan, will also see production. The current Hyundai/Kia V8 is a 5.0L unit that makes 390 horsepower and 394 lb-ft of torque. We'd be surprised if this car isn't made on a lightened version of the Genesis platform, which means that all that V8 power will go to the rear wheels, as is right and proper.
