The Miami Heat haven't lost since February 1 when they dropped a game against the Indiana Pacers. Since then the South Beach crew has gone on a historic run of 22 games in a row. They've passed teams like the '99-'00 Lakers, '70-'71 Bucks, '48-'49 Washington Capitols, and tied the '07-'08 Rockets on the list of squads with the longest winning streaks in NBA history. The team at the top is the '71-'72 Lakers who set the current record of 33 straight wins. That year's Lake Show included Hall of Famers Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, Pat Riley (*cues the soundtrack*), and Gail Goodrich. They went on to win the NBA Finals against the New York Knicks.
Are the Heat about that life? It certainly seems like it. As they press on toward NBA history we'll be running our weekly "Heat Check" series to give our thoughts on the probability of a team ending Miami's streak.
