Most electric cars can manage about 70-100 miles before giving up, and that has been the main reason the market has largely ignored them. GM CEO Bill Akerson has stated that the company is working on an EV with a 200-mile range at the moment, which might be the previously announced Chevrolet Spark EV.

He also went on to say "I believe the President should immediately appoint a Blue Ribbon Commission to develop a 30-year energy policy framework." We're not really sure why it's a "Blue Ribbon" commission, but whatever. He is, in addition to backing EV efforts, a strong proponent of using natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) to reduce emissions and energy dependency. Given that he also said that "the death of the V8 has been greatly exaggerated," we're hopeful for an LNG Corvette in the near future.
