When Dennis Rodman talked with TMZ recently and told them that he was planning on following up his recent meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un with a meeting with the next Pope, we thought he was kidding. In fact, we almost didn't run this post yesterday because we thought Rodman was just being Rodman when he talked about wanting to meet the Pope. But, as it turns out, it wasn't a joke at all.
Rodman is apparently so serious that he's in Rome right now outside of the Vatican waiting for the Catholic Church to name the next Pope so that he can get a sit-down with him immediately. Why? Your guess is as good as ours. And, to make things even more bizarre, an Irish betting firm has also helped organize his entire trip to the Vatican and is pushing Rodman to promote a black Pope because, well, that would be a big deal and would get the firm mentioned in the news thousands of times over the course of the next few weeks (notice we're not taking the bait and plugging them). So, where does Rodman go from here? We'll just have to wait and see. But, this is the last time we'll ever scoff at something silly that Rodman says. He's clearly out to do some pretty ridiculous things right now.
If Rodman actually lands a meeting with the Pope, let us know. In the meantime, we'll be holed up in our fallout shelters. The end of the world must be near.
