Note to self: If ever faced with the task of trying to kill a scorpion, USE MORE THAN JUST A TISSUE! Unfortunately, Milwaukee Brewers general manager Doug Melvin learned that the hard way yesterday when he attempted to kill a scorpion in his condo in Arizona and ended up suffering a scorpion sting in the process. It stung him on his left hand and caused his entire left arm to go numb, which prompted him to take a trip to the ER.
"My arm is still totally numb," he said earlier today. "It stung me right through the Kleenex. My arm started swelling, and then the numbness started going up my arm, like when you hit your funny bone. I was wondering if it might go all the way up my arm and go to my heart. I got nervous when it got up to my shoulder, so I went to the emergency room."
Thankfully, he's okay now. But, we bet he'll pick up a newspaper, a sneaker, or, hell, a baseball bat the next time he tries to confront one of those things. Lesson learned.
