The big chatter in the world of supercars recently as been of how Ferrari, McLaren, and Porsche have all debuted hybrid hypercars. When asked if AMG would be splitting the SLS AMG into a cheaper model and a sports car, AMG Director of Vehicle Development Tobias Moers responded, "What I can confirm today is that the SLS is not a single-shoot story. It’s not SLS runs for four years then no super-sports car from AMG."

He continued, regarding the hybridization of sports cars to say, “We know there is a little bit more room to move with combustion technology in our segments." He promises to improve fuel economy by reducing weight, using many of the same technologies that just debuted in the SLS AMG Black Series.
