Judge Robert Ruelman has put a stop to the Cincinnati area village of Elmwood Place's speed camera program which had no oversight from law enforcement, as the pictures, calibration, and ticketing was handled entirely by Maryland-based Optotraffic, which pocketed 40% of all the revenues. 

“The so-called witness from Elmwood Place testifies from a report produced by the company that owns the monitoring unit. This witness has no personal knowledge of the speeding violation and therefore, their testimony is based solely on hearsay” said Judge Ruelman.

This case could prove to be a landmark, and might either drive the speed camera out of existence, or at least change the way it is implemented so that due process isn't thrown by the way-side.
