Watch the video above. It contains so much hope. So, so much hope. Going into an NFL tryout at the Jets practice facility in Florham Park, N.J. yesterday, Lauren Silberman was filled with it. She thought that maybe, just maybe, she was about to become the first female kicker in the history of the NFL.

However, Silberman's first kick at yesterday's regional combine only traveled 19 yards. Her second? Well, that one only traveled 13 yards. And then, the 28-year-old had to quit abruptly after suffering what was later described as a quadriceps injury. She tried to work through the pain but couldn't do it. So, it's safe to say that, while she did make history by becoming the first female to ever try out for the NFL, she will not re-write history by becoming the first female to actually play in it.

"I'm just really happy I had this amazing experience," she said afterwards. "I might be the first woman trying out for the NFL, but I certainly hope I'm not the last."

Now that just about anyone can try out for the league thanks to these regional combines, we're sure she won't be the last female to try out. We just hope the next one is able to perform a little bit better than she did.
