Deron Williams is signed to a $100 million contract with the Brooklyn Nets, but he certainly isn't playing like it. He's had an average season thus far, possibly got a coach fired, and is missing his first All Star game in three years. His performance can be attributed to his ailing ankle, which he aggravated in the 2012 London Olympics. The Nets management said his ankles are wearing down, and he's had platelet-rich plasma injections in both ankles recently to help the situation.

On the other hand, USA Basketball president Jerry Colangelo told the Daily News that Williams was overweight during his time at the Olympics: "Deron Williams, for the Olympics, was not in the best shape. He was a little overweight, and I told him that at the time.”

Yikes. Ankle wear may not be controllable, but weight certainly is. However, Nets general manager Billy King maintained that Williams' weight has nothing to do with his play this season.
