Alex Smith may finally be on the move next month. According to FOX Sports writer Jay Glazer, the 49ers have finalized a deal with—drumroll, please!—the Chiefs that will put Smith in a Kansas City uniform next season.

49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

Does smith seem like the right guy to lead the Chiefs? Eh. But, hey, he can't possibly be any worse than the QBs they rolled out last season, right?!

UPDATE: The 49ers will reportedly receive a second-round draft pick in the 2013 NFL Draft (No. 34 overall) and a conditional mid-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft in exchange for Smith. It's also being reported that the Chiefs will cut QB Matt Cassel from their roster once the deal goes through.
