Here's a news story that's sure to ruin your day/have you writhing around on the floor in pain.
Ohio State University football coach Urban Meyer made an appearance at a coaches convention in Ohio recently and spent some time talking about toughness. Specifically, he talked about a brand of toughness that very, very few people out there can exhibit. That's because that particular brand of toughness involves allowing a turtle to bite your penis in order to show just how tough you are. No, you didn't read that wrong. We really said "allowing a turtle to bite your…" Okay, okay. We'll spare you. But, during his speech, Meyer talked about the time that legendary OSU head coach Woody Hayes came back to OSU in the 1980s to give then-Buckeyes head coach Earl Bruce and his staff a lesson in toughness by bringing a turtle in a box for a presentation and...Well, we'll let Urban tell it.
"He reaches down and grabs this box," Meyer told the convention, "slides the top and there was something in the box moving around. He reaches in and he pulls out this turtle. He reaches down, this turtle's snapping and he says, 'I'm going to show you toughness.' He unzips his pants and takes out whatever he takes out. The turtle reaches up and snap at him. You see the veins and the sweat [on Hayes]. He reaches down, pokes the turtle right in the eye, and it falls off. He wipes the sweat off his forehead and says, 'That's the problem. We don't have anybody in this room tough enough to do that right there.'"
OUCH. That's about the only word that comes to mind after hearing that story. And, if that is what it takes to prove that you're tough, then consider us the biggest wimps in the world. We'll gladly accept the title.
