A Former College Basketball Player Fractured His Skull During a Game in Israel Yesterday

How it happened sounds excruciating.

We've heard about guys suffering all kinds of head injuries while playing collegiate and pro sports. But, we haven't heard about one that sounds this painful.

During an Israel Basketball Association game yesterday, former Texas Longhorns player Gary Johnson got elbowed in the head by a fellow player. No big deal, right? Elbows get thrown all the time during basketball games. But, this elbow hit Johnson so hard that it fractured his skull. And, shortly after it happened, he had to be put into a medically-induced coma.

Fortunately, Johnson is going to be okay. Doctors are expected to wake him from the coma today. But, still, a fractured skull as the result of an elbow?! That sounds horrible. We wish this guy a speedy recovery.
