Nobody has ever question the beauty of the Fisker Karma. Bob Lutz, a former General Motors executive, was an avid supporter of the Chevy Volt. Put him and the Karma together and you'd be wise to bet on electric. With his partner Gilbert Villareal, Lutz has, however, thrown a curve ball.

Introducing the VL Automotive Destino in Detroit this week, Villareal and Lutz show the Karma's potential not with batteries but with a Corvette-ready 6.2-liter LT1 V8 that rocks 450 horsepower and matching torque. While the general Karma shape is retained, the Destino gets its own distinct grille.

Anyone interested in the boutique luxury market should take note. Price is expected to hit $180,000.
