In February, Syracuse University will retire the #15 jersey worn by Carmelo Anthony. Approximately 10 years ago, Anthony led the Orange in his freshman year to the school's first-ever national championship. Shortly after the fairytale season, Melo announced he was entering the NBA Draft from the same year.

Through Carmelo and coach Jim Boeheim's respective involvement on the USA Men's Basketball team, the two have been able to maintain a solid relationship, and on September 24, 2009, the Carmelo K. Anthony Basketball Center opened for the Syracuse men's and women's basketball teams, which he put forth $3 million towards building.

An official announcement with a specific date in regards to Anthony's retired number will be announced next week.
