Detroit's biggest surprise hasn't been a new Ferrari or a ultra-luxury SUV. No, instead, its an unexpected new creation by the legendary American tuner Shelby: A Ford Focus.
The 2013 Shelby Focus ST makes use of the preexisting Focus ST and a fuel efficient 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Shelby doesn't tweak the power—which remains at a stock 252 hp—but lowering the suspension helps make an already good car just a little better.
To differentiate from the ST, the Shelby model has some strong graphics packages, a vented hood, and custom trim on the seats. 500 examples will be built each year at a cost of $38,695.
