We know that the 795 hp, 78 mpg Porsche 918 Spyder hypercar is expensive ($850,000). But now we know that there will also be a Weissach Package, which adds an improved braking system, and subtracts both 77lbs and eight seconds from the car's Nurburgring time. On a normal car, some weight savings and upgraded brakes might raise the sticker price by $2,000 or so, but this is no normal car. A 918 Spyder Weissach costs a staggering $929,000.
The car might already have broken a world record. Has an optional package ever cost more than $84,000 before? One could buy a Jaguar XFR for that kind of money.
