When people think of hybrid cars, they usually think of a cross between a regular combustion engine and electric power. Automaker PSA Peugeot Citroen wants to change that, introducing what they're calling the Hybrid Air concept car, replacing electric power with compressed air. The new concept would function like it's current hybrid counterparts, using it's gas-powered engine for highway driving, it's hydraulic motor in town, and a combination of both for occasions like when climbing a hill. Capable of speeds up to 43 mph with a fuel economy of 117mpg, Peugout hopes to make the Hybrid Air concept a mainstream alternative by 2016.
