It sounds like the worst-kept secret in professional sports is finally going to come out later this week.
According to a source who spoke with USA Today last night, Lance Armstrong sat down for a 2.5-hour "no-holds barred" interview session with Oprah Winfrey yesterday. And, according to that same source, the seven-time Tour de France winner used the interview to confirm what just about everyone both inside and outside of the cycling world has suspected for years now—that he used performance-enhancing drugs during his career. Specifically, Armstrong reportedly told Oprah that he started using PEDs back in the mid-1990s, before he was diagnosed with cancer.
Is anyone out there that's all that surprised by this news? We're not. But, we're still looking forward to hearing exactly how Armstrong justified his PED use to Oprah. The interview airs Thursday night on the Oprah Winfrey Network. Stay tuned for additional details.
