Last Friday, Vanessa Bryant announced on Instagram that her and Kobe had reconciled. While this was obviously good news for the couple, KB should be grateful because, according to good folks over at Larry Brown Sports and attorney Andrew J. Botros with the Law Office of James D. Scott in San Diego, the Black Mamba would've come out paying a pretty penny if both parties actually went through with the divorce.
Here's the breakdown by LBS:
In California, the higher-earning spouse can be expected to support the lower-earning spouse for half the length of the marriage in many cases. However, once a marriage hits 10 years, it’s a totally different ball game. A 10-year marriage is considered a long-term marriage and a California judge can award spousal support indefinitely.
So, just to clarify, Kobe could've come out paying as much as $1.36 million in monthly spousal and child support payments. We know Kobe doesn't know what it means to "pass," but at least, thanks to Vanessa, he has a new-found appreciation for the word.
