Contrary to popular belief, Doc Rivers says that Kevin Garnett did not almost spark a fight between himself and Carmelo Anthony by talking about Melo's wife LaLa or by insinuating that she "tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios." He was adamant about it during a radio interview on WEEI earlier today.

"Well, No. 1, I know what's been reported did not happen," he said. "I know that as a fact. That did not happen…Guys, you know how this works. A guy does something crazy like Carmelo did, and the way to get out of trouble is to say, 'Well, he said this.' It happens all the time, and what bugs me about this whole thing is this is not a Kevin Garnett issue. And it was made into one, and it shouldn't have been made into one."

So, what did KG say to 'Melo then, Coach? Rivers declined to comment, but he did admit that trash talking can get out of line at times.

"It's pretty crude, I can tell you. Out there at times, you hear some crazy stuff. But when it gets racial or personal to family, then that crosses the line. But I'm going to say it again: In this case, that didn't happen. [Garnett] does [know where the line is]. He does. I will say that. I've never heard him cross the line. And usually when he talks about guys, it's usually about their game or their team or what he thinks if the guy's a winner or loser."

Riiiiiiight. So, KG has never crossed the line? Like, ever? We don't know if we're buying that. But, we do know that the whole "Honey Nut Cheerios" thing does sound pretty unbelievable, even by KG standards. So, let's all just move on. 'Melo says the issue is dead. So, we're ready to dead it.
