Good morning, Browns and Eagles fans! Are you ready to get your week off to an awful start?
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Oregon head coach Chip Kelly—who interviewed with both Cleveland and Philadelphia extensively over the weekend—has decided that he's not ready to leave the college ranks just yet. So, rather than sign a multimillion-dollar contract to join an NFL team for the 2013-14 NFL season, Kelly is going to return to Oregon next year to continue to coach the Ducks. And, that leaves both the Browns and the Eagles scrambling to try to find other head coaching candidates for next year.
There's no guarantee that Kelly's high-powered offensive approach to football would have worked in the NFL anyway. But, if nothing else, he would've immediately brought some hope and, more importantly, some excitement to an NFL franchise. But, he's decided against it. So, it's back to the drawing board for the two teams who were in the running to hire him. Sucks to be them.
