Elio Motors has just purchased the Louisiana plant that was once owned by GM. What's ironic is that when GM owned this plant it produced the massive and inefficient Hummer H3, while Elio Motors plans to build a three-wheeled vehicle that will get 80mpg. Amazingly, Elio's seemingly unnamed vehicle will only cost $6,800.
Production is slated to begin in 2014,and will be ramped up in 2015.
